Since 1957, origins and tradition
The Winery
In the heart of Basilicata, where Horace and Carlo Gesualdo were born, Cantina di Venosa is born.
Founded in 1957, it brings together today over 350 members and 800 hectares of vineyards dedicated to Aglianico del Vulture DOC.
A place where tradition and innovation intertwine, and a new generation of winemakers transforms Lucanian passion into wines with an authentic and unmistakable character.

History
Aglianico del Vulture is an ancient vine, already celebrated by the Venosian poet Quintus Horatius Flaccus with his famous "Nunc est bibendum". Symbol of a land always dedicated to wine, the Vulture area preserves a millennial history: from the Romans, who minted coins dedicated to Dionysus in Venosa, to the first documents that in the seventeenth and twentieth centuries exalted its value and diffusion. In 1971 Aglianico obtained the DOC recognition, and in 2010 the DOCG Superiore denomination: a path that unites myth, culture and Lucanian passion in a wine that continues to tell the most authentic soul of Basilicata.
About Us
In the heart of Basilicata, where Horace and Carlo Gesualdo were born, stands Cantina di Venosa, among the most renowned in the South. Founded in 1957 by 27 members and today strong with over 350 winemakers and 800 hectares of vineyards, it is the productive soul of Vulture, land of Aglianico DOC. An ancient wine of over 2000 years, born from Greek colonists and shaped by the volcanic soil and harmonious climate of the hills of Venosa. Cutting-edge technology and ancient gestures merge in every glass, where passion, care and tradition give life to a ruby red with an intense aroma and authentic flavor: the deepest essence of Basilicata wine.

The territory
On the slopes of Vulture, an ancient volcano of Basilicata, the volcanic soil, climate and time have created the perfect habitat for Aglianico del Vulture, a wine impossible to replicate elsewhere. But the real magic comes from the meeting between nature and man: expert hands that, combined with the wisdom of centuries and the most modern techniques, transform grapes into a masterpiece. Selected harvest, contained yields and careful vinification give life to a red that contains the strength of its land and the passion of those who cultivate it.
