Sustainability is the common thread that accompanies every choice, every daily gesture and every growth project. We believe that preserving the land is the first step to giving value to the future: for this reason we adopt practices attentive to the environment and we are committed to initiatives that promote respect for the territory, the reduction of environmental impact and the enhancement of local resources. Our goals are ambitious and clear: innovate without forgetting the roots, improve production processes every day to guarantee quality wines and protect biodiversity, with a vision that puts at the center the balance between tradition, innovation and social responsibility. Every goal achieved tells our path towards conscious viticulture, open to the future and deeply linked to the well-being of the community and the environment that surrounds us.
Sustainable commitment
Cantina di Venosa published its first Sustainability Report in December 2022, relating to the 2021/2022 financial year. A document that testifies to the concrete commitment of the company towards the UN 2030 Agenda objectives, through investments and actions that generate value for the environment, the community and the territory. A tool for transparency and sharing, designed to clearly and measurably tell the results achieved and future objectives of sustainable growth.
Food Security
Cantina di Venosa adopts food safety standards superior to what is required by current legislation, offering consumers guaranteed, controlled and fully traceable wines throughout the production chain. Our Winery uses an advanced production process management system compliant with ISO 22005:2008, integrated with international standards BRCG version 9 and IFS version 7, today considered among the main references in large-scale distribution and customer brand products. These certifications ensure maximum protection in terms of traceability, hygiene and food safety. In 2023 Cantina di Venosa also obtained the prestigious Equalitas certification, dedicated to sustainability in the wine sector. Equalitas evaluates and certifies three fundamental areas of production: the Company, through responsible and transparent practices; the Finished Product, guaranteeing quality, safety and reduction of environmental impact and finally the Territory, protecting biodiversity, natural resources and local development.
Sustainable Innovation
Cantina di Venosa invests in advanced technologies for sustainable viticulture with low environmental impact. In 2022 the company received the Coldiretti Oscar Green thanks to the satellite mapping project of the vineyards. Started in 2018, the system uses the Sentinel-2 satellite and Oenoview software to analyze the vegetative state of the vineyards in the Iatta locality, of 150 hectares, every week, detecting water stress, vine health and potential pathogenic diseases. Satellite data, validated by field checks and integrated with technical bulletins from the ALSIA Basilicata Experimental Center, allow precise and targeted interventions, reducing treatments and waste. Since 2023 the winery has also been using Trapview, a digital platform that monitors Lobesia botrana via 10 stations distributed over the 700 hectares of the members. This precision agriculture system allows intervention row by row, improving sustainability and vineyard quality.
Code of Ethics
The Code of Ethics of Cantina di Venosa defines the principles and behaviors that guide all our activities, respecting people, the territory and viticultural traditions. It is inspired by article 1 of Law 238/2016, which recognizes wine as a national cultural heritage, to be protected and enhanced in all its dimensions: social, economic, productive, environmental and cultural. Being ethical for us means operating with integrity, transparency and correctness, promoting fair competition and relationships of trust with collaborators, suppliers and consumers. It is a daily commitment to guarantee quality, safety and traceability of our wines, with maximum respect for those who work with us and for those who choose our products. The Code of Ethics thus represents our vision of a sustainable company, capable of combining growth, responsibility and protection of the territory
